Tooth eruption

The first baby teeth usually appear between six and eight months of age, often beginning with the two lower front teeth. The upper front teeth typically follow, with the remaining baby teeth coming in gradually over time. Most children have all 20 baby teeth by about age 2½.

The first permanent teeth generally begin to erupt between ages 5 and 7. Some permanent teeth replace baby teeth, while others come in behind them. Because every child develops differently, it is completely normal for tooth eruption to happen a little earlier or later.

Baby teeth play an important role in your child’s development. They help with chewing, speech, appearance, and holding space for the permanent teeth to come.

That is why healthy eating habits and good daily oral care are so important from the start.
