First visit
A calmer, more comfortable dental experience for your child — and for you
American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child’s first regular dental visit by their first birthday. This visit is an opportunity for us to get to know your family, answer your questions, and begin building a dental home for your child.
What your child’s first visit feels like
- A calm, unhurried introduction to the office
- Gentle, child-friendly language throughout the visit
- A careful, thorough exam tailored to your child’s comfort
- Ceiling-mounted TVs in every treatment room so children can watch their favorite shows during their visit
- Time to answer your questions without feeling rushed
- A positive experience designed to build confidence from the very beginning What to expect Your child’s first visit may include:
- a review of home dental care habits
- guidance on diet and cavity prevention
- a gentle examination of the teeth and gums
- X-rays, if appropriate
- a cleaning and fluoride treatment, if needed Every visit is tailored to your child’s age, needs, and comfort level.
Helping children feel at ease
Creating a positive experience is one of our highest priorities. We use gentle, child-friendly language and avoid words that may sound frightening or overwhelming to young patients. Instead of words like: needle or shot drill pull the tooth out cavity exam gas We may use phrases like: sleepy juice clean the tooth wiggle the tooth sugar bug counting teeth tooth checker
magic air
