Dental Radiographs (X-rays)
Dental X-rays are a safe and important part of your child’s diagnostic care. They allow us to see what may not be visible during a routine clinical exam, helping us detect concerns early and plan treatment thoughtfully.
X-rays can help identify cavities, monitor erupting teeth, evaluate injuries, assess bone health, and guide orthodontic planning. Early detection often means treatment is easier, more comfortable, and more effective.
Your child’s safety is always a priority. Pediatric dentists are especially careful to minimize radiation exposure by using modern digital X-rays, protective shielding, and equipment designed to focus only on the area of interest. With these safeguards in place, radiation exposure is kept very low.
In many cases, the greater risk is missing a dental problem that cannot be seen without an X-ray.
